end of Summer....

and today I am linking up with Mary and Renae for their Tuesday EASY blog hop.

Eating well I'm doing too much of this and am going to have to
tape my mouth shut soon.

I don't know what it is about this weather but with all these wet and dreary days
it just makes me want to eat and eat and eat!

At this rate of going I will have to pretend
I have turned Muslim and wear long loose black clothing to hide all my
newly acquired lumps and bumps.....
so it is going to have to be less of this

and more of this....
even poor Charlie is fed up with  the rain...

August is at an end
and I am sad to see summer go
even though we only had it for about
a week or so here in Ireland!

These flowers always bloom in the last few weeks of summer and are a reminder that Autumn is on the way and that the days are getting shorter.

Mr. Raindrops came home after working away  he was home for 3 days
but has gone back to Spain this morning
but it was great to see him.

We had lovely family time together
and went out to our favourite restaurant
chatted, laughed with the kids and had fun
and of course I got him to do a few little jobs around the house and garden
just to keep him busy
and make him feel wanted!!

Sunday-exhausted...
after a late night I was'nt feeling the best,
too many glasses of wine!
I am too old for late nights!
How about you?
Can you cope with late nights?

So on Sunday it was a quiet walk along the lake in the afternoon and a lazy dazy day

Yippee I am so lucky because I won
the giveaway over at
Linda has a beautiful blog and it is one that I love to visit.
I am so delighted because I have never won anything,
never, ever ever ever.....
I think maybe I should do the lottery this week.

I am going to use the program to display some photos for my Mum.
My brother took his own life a couple of years ago and my Mum has never really got over it, well being honest none of us have, so with the memories kit I can put photos of Cíaran into it and do you know what my Mum will have a smile
as wide as the ocean when she sees them.

Thanks Linda for a great prize.

A favour please.....

any of you who have word verification on your blogs can you remove it
please please pretty please?

It is so difficult to decipher
and even with my reading glasses on it's impossible and usually takes me 3 or 4 attempts before I get it right.

It is easy to disable and you won't get any spam, honestly...
but I bet you will get more comments

To get rid of it is easy peasy

go into settings...
posts and comments
word verification - click no
 save your settings
and hey presto it's gone!

Wishing you alllovely happy week
full of
 sunshine, smiles and lovely things

Fiona, what a lovely post. Sounds like you have had a great weekend? I too should get in the habit of eating more veggies and fruits. I am trying. Your Charlie is so cute and I loved your flowers. I hope you can squeeze in some more summer there. Have a great week ahead.

What a lovely blog entry with flowers and food and the good news of winning a "My Memories scrapbooking programme". How lovely is that? But even lovelier is that you want to use it to put in some photos in memory of Cieran, your brother, who is no longer amongst you. Your mother will be surely very touched.

I so agree about the word verification and ask blog owners, whose blogs I enjoy visiting, to please remove them if they wish me to continue leaving friendly comments. They are more and difficult to read and precious time is wasted...

I can't take late nights either, but then I never could because I'm an early bird whatever time I go to bed!
I love your peaceful green lake shot!

Beautiful flowers Fiona . . . I wish we were in your land. Our trips have been usually in August. One in late September was grand too. Do you travel to Spain with your husband?

I agree . . . With a SHOUT, please have a Word Verification FREE Blog . . . So difficult to communicate when people have that on!

Linda said...

I'm not a late night person, always in bed before 10 pm.

I hate word verification too, and won't comment on blogs that have it.

Have you had time to play with the program yet? I know your Mum will love what you create with it.

Here we are wishing for rain, and there you are wishing for sun. I wish it was possible to trade some sun for rain.

Have a great day.

What a beautiful header! I do hope that Ireland enjoys a wonderful September. A glorious September can make up for a not-so-great August.

I agree in relation to food at the moment I think it must be the change of seasons but I am craving sweet food and I am not normaly a sweet tooth person. Glad to hear your husband was home you probably cram so much into 3 days. Have a good week

You are brilliant, Fiona! Me too I HATE word verification - I have to stick my nose against the screen to decipher! Thanks for that thought! I do not want summer to leave - it was too short! The weather forecast is definitely autumn-like starting from Friday - sigh - Love how you described your night out - BUT: One must make hey when the sun shines... If you know what I mean! Have a good evening and greet fantastic Ireland from me! Christa

Hello Fiona, the blogosphere has missed you!
I love your picture of the salad, so colorful and delicious-looking!
Late nights: well... they're ok if they happen once in a while.
The flowers and the lake are really pretty.
I hate word verification! Last night my mum was on her computer and she looked at me desperately and said: "I think I'm a robot". I said "What are you talking about?" and she answered "I can't decipher those codes". They seem to have become a lot more confusing.

Have a happy week, it's nice to have you back!

So cleaver! Great post. I love how you used the e and a and s and y in your own choices. Great creativity! I just may have to do that, too sometime. I love creative minds!!!!!!!!!!

I chuckled when you said less of the sweet donuty scone and more fresh chopped veggies.

Thank you for joining EASY TUESDAY! tremendous.

Ahhh...Fiona. Everytime I read your blog, I smile. I just love the photos showing your garden pots and such. So pretty.

Congrats on winning the giveaway! I'm very sorry to hear of your brother. It's very sweet of you to think of doing something like that for your Mum, I know she will be so pleased.

Oh, and I'm back to add that I fully agree with you on the word verification. It's such a pain and is so unnecessary. Blogger's spam collector does a good job catching it before it ends up on your comments.

I always LOVE the vibrant colors of your photos Fiona!

I NO LONGER think late nights are GREAT...wish I did but I love my sleep!

Word verification? NO THANK YOU!

Late night for me is 9 p.m.!!!!!
You have some great photos on your blog. Your dog is gorgeous.
I despise word verification - it's almost impossible to read.

hi-d said...

Those white flowers too remind me of school starting. Growing up, we had them in our yard.
Oh...and I am with you on the word verification. I use to use it, but they changed it now so that it looks like you're reading chinese and it takes me forever most times if I'm commenting on someone's blog to get it right. hahaha...(frustrating too)...

I came by way of E.A.S.Y. Tuesday Blog hop. :)

Congratulations on your Scrapbooking Program. ENJOY! I always get my hubby to do a 'few little jobs around the house just to keep him busy and feel wanted' too, before he heads back on the road. Sorry the rain is frustrating Charlie and you. Hope autumn is better. Take care.

Marie said...

Congrats on your winnings! I just love seeing Charlie...please give him a big hug for me! These flowers are lovely, but the last photo is so beautiful and I wish I were there. :)

What a lovely post, sunny pictures as always despite the boo-hiss weather :-( People are mentioning the C-word already which is utterly depressing... My heart's with you about your brother, Ican't imagine what that must be like.

I'm with you on the word verification - it drives me NUTS!!!!!!!!!!!!

As for late nights - a glass of homemade elderflower champagne and a bowl of honey nut cornflakes at 9pm is a big night for me at the moment!!

Enjoy the rest of your week xx

Hi again Fiona!

I noticed that she hadn't posted in a few days but i didn't realize her blog was gone. That's strange. Do you think she stopped blogging or that it's just a technical hitch?

Also, have you noticed that I've nominated you for the One Lovely Blog Award? I don't want to be pushy but I thought that maybe you didn't see my comment. I just wanted you to now that I greatly appreciate the fact that I've met so many bloggers through Green Day. :)

Lovely post Fiona. Did I miss the summer - damn I must have blinked, lol. It has been a bit miserable this year hasn't it?
Congratulations on your win, now run and do the lottery :)) That donut looks sooooo scrummy - I love a good donut.
I'm so sorry about your brother, I'm sure your mum will love the pictures that you are going to do.
Have a good week and enjoy the rest of August.

Summer is dragging on here- with no rain- so I guess everyone is having a difficult one. Your first pic has made me hungry so now I have to go find something sweet to eat!

Bravo for talking about deleting WORD VERIFICATION! That is a great idea. With your permission may I copy and paste your wording? I think it boils down to the fact they really don't know it is there and don't visit much themselves so they have not encountered it.

Your flower photos are so sharp and crisp. So pretty. It is always fun for me to read your posts. Love your pretty font colors.

Gratuluję nagrody i cieszę się, że Ty się z niej cieszysz.Przykro mi, że u Was pada i pada. Przecież jeszcze nie jesień. Kwiatki, które pokazujesz, mimo iż zwiastują jesień, bardzo lubię. Lubię sałatki i mogę je jeść i jeść i Tobie też radzę. Pozdrawiam.
I congratulate the award and I am glad that you are with the cieszysz.Przykro me that you fall in and fall. But not yet fall. Flowers that you show, even though herald autumn, I really like. I like salads and I can eat and eat and also advise you. Yours

Hi Fiona. Sorry I haven't been around much lately. I was so sorry to hear that you lost your brother like that, and I'm sure your mum will be so pleased with what you intend to do with the photos for her. I totally agree with you about the word verification bit. It's just getting harder and harder and I usually have to try about three times :(
I have lots of those Japanese Anonemonies in my garden now . They're the last ones of the summer really, although like you, we've had no summer at all here in Devon. Lovely photos today . I'm not up to late nights anymore either!! Take care x
