Out and about...

 I have been having a lazy few days,
the weather has been dull and rainy
and all I wanted to do was snuggle up
 in front of the fire with cups of tea
but
I did go out on a few walks
and here are a few photos from my week..
This is the road I live on,
just around the next bend is
Home Sweet Home
a lovely tree lined avenue...
some tiny falabellas, aren't they so cute?

The autumn colours are just wonderful
someone said it's because of all the rainfall we had during the year
so I'm guessing next year will be the same!

Beauty and Fashion
comparing myself to a horse,,.
I passed this little guy one day and do you know what...
I think that his hair is in better condition than mine!!
and  seriously when I look at him I think I have more hairs on my chin than he does!
hmmm time to get the tweezers out!

I bought this navy poncho in Tesco for €18.50
it will be lovely and snuggly for the cold days ahead
 looks great with denims and nice wearing it at home while lazing on the sofa!
They also have it in a camel colour
and I am very very tempted...

 House and Home
This week I'm enjoying...
mugs of hot chocolate and marshmallows

I usually buy a bunch of flowers for the house when doing my grocery shopping
and while I normally choose lilies
these caught my eye, as they are so bright and colourful and would lift anyones mood!

and my new orchid plant Miyako named after a lovely blogging friend from Japan
I bought this beauty for €5 in B&Q
♥♥♥
Well at the moment my house is upside down and inside out
Mr. Raindrops decided to paint the lounge last Sunday
still talking about it on Monday
planning it all Tuesday
deciding what he needed to buy Wednesday
bought the paint Thursday,
 rested Friday
and low and behold the painting began on Saturday
He keeps telling me that these things cannot be rushed,
obviously not
it hasn't been painted in 6 years...

Is it all men or just mine?

all kinds of everything...

Good morning friends,
it's Friday and so welcome to another Green Day

It is so long since I blogged that I really don't know what to say
or where to start....

Family
 My Mum is a lot better now and thank you all for all of your good wishes,
she is on the mend and happy and smiling again which is great!

Home
The farmers have finished their harvest and so the animals have
returned to the fields.
This beauty and his friends are in the field at the back of our house.
It is lovely to see them run up and down
Isn't he a handsome fellow?
The weather here has been a mixture of sunshine and showers
along with some early morning frosts.
but wow we have had some wonderful autumn sunshine too!
Buys
 I went shopping the other day and bought a lovely black and white dress in Penneys
it will certainly suit the cooler weather.

I can put a black or white top underneath,
 wear it on it's own or with a fine knit polo when it really gets cold.

It looks great with black tights and heels or  with my black boots.
 I was delighted to find that it only cost €25 so happy days!

Garden
 My patio is still looking pretty,
 I have planted up a few new pots and so hopefully will have colour throughout autumn/winter

Pets
On a very wet day I heard a loud crash, hmmm....
I wonder who broke my terracotta pot when racing by.....

Kitchen
 I made a cake the other day and was hoping to post the recipe and some photos,
 but by the time I got to taking the pics
 most of the cake had been demolished by
the 3 hungry men of the house,
these are the only pics I got!!!

Next time I make it I will try and be quicker with the camera
and hopefully get to share the lovely recipe!

Blogging
While I was driving home from work the other day I stopped to take this photo.

 I don't think anyone saw me (I hope not)
 as they would think I was bonkers stopping the car to take a photo of a sheep
but you know that I do believe a lot of us bloggers are  bit bonkers
as most of us will seize any opportunity
to take a photo...

so what do you think
 are we all a bit mad???
ps the red on his back is the local farmer's marking
so as to distinguish him from other flocks in the area.

have a lovely happy week full of
 sunshine, smiles and lovely things

Green Day

why not link up with us today...

Thursday, 12 July 2012

My, oh my, oh my......

 it's Thursday again,
where has the week gone,
blink and you'd miss it!

Busy busy days here in Raindrops land!

My hydrangea is doing nicely
I drag it into the porch everytime it rains
so the flowers still look fresh
maybe that's the secret of
a good garden in Ireland....
cover all your plants with a giant umbrella??

I had a lovely surprise yesterday
I found some sweetpeas
hidden behind a hedge
I didn't  plant them so they must have drifted in from somewhere else
and so I put them on the kitchen table
in my favourite jug!

and while the sun shone(for an hour or so)
I took a photo of poppies in the garden
 unfortunately they don't look quite so healthy today after another downpour....

but these cute little guys seem very happy with the weather that we are having....
Sometimes I wonder why my flowers are flattened down and  bashed
I always blame the dreaded rain
but
 today in the flowerbed I discovered
 Mister Charlie in a bid to find a ball!

Mum has been here for a  few days so I'm on the go as she likes to be on the move
(all of the time, every minute of everyday)
we did a lot of looking around the shops,
yummy coffees,  lunches out
and just enjoying our time together
but
where she gets her energy from I don't know.

She has just gone home and I'm exhausted
she is like a 5 year old skipping and jumping around the place and she is 75!
She must be doing something right as she looks fantastic
- I better start skipping and jumping
watch this space.....

 The lovely creative Emma at http://thebloomingtimes.blogspot.ie/
has awarded me the Liebster award.
I am so delighted to receive it
and have a big smile on my face
I have to pass it onto 3 blogs
this is proving to be a very difficult job
so I have decided to award the Liebster
to blogs that have under 30 followers
they defintely should have more
 as they  make lovely reading.
Please check them out!

So in no particular order -

 finally
(flippity flippity flippity flip) ....

 we have been invited to a very special party next Sunday
 and so I wanted to get a bag and shoes to go with the dress I intended to wear.

When out  shopping with "on the go" Mum
and "still sad" daughter
I got the perfect bag and these lovely shoes
they were the only pair in the shop
and were my size
so obviously I had to have them!

(How I'll walk in them is anyone's guess)
anyway....

I put the bag and shoes with the dress
 all looked absolutely wonderful and perfect
 happy happy me
I was so delighted with my choice (and taste) yippee
until....

I tried to get into the dress
and to tell you  it was snug is an understatement
even if I let nothing but water pass my lips
 for the next few days (months)
It won't fit
so
 I have to go shopping again tomorrow
 and am going to buy a pair of those
huge ginormous monstrous pull me in knickers
 suck my breath
in and in....
 and in and in....
(and very very very deeply)
and hope for the best!

Fingers crossed!!!

Wishing you all a healthy, happy week
full of
 sunshine, smiles and lovely things

the week that was...

sunshine and showers

This week we had a lot of heavy showers,
this photo was taken while I was waiting for my son to come out of school
it's funny because even though
we are always complaining about the rain here
 I love the feel of it on my face

When tucked up indoors rain is so comforting and when you are out and about
it is fresh and invigorating
I don't think I could live in a country that has long dry spells and very little rain.

do you like rain ?

long walks
and
lovely horses

kiss kiss....

 love you Mum!

 crafted wooden horses too....

pretty pink
 clematis

at home

my two boys studying
 for their exams -
one for his university finals
so is pretty stressed
- the other guy
so laid back he is almost comatose!

I hope that you are having a
h a p p y week
and that life is good.

Sunday Walk

Well it is dull, damp and gloomy here again
(nothing new there you might say!)
so instead of sitting indoors we put on the walking shoes and off we went!
Charlie loves a walk but is not too good on the lead and likes to pull and drag us in every direction!
You certainly get exercise when you are with him!
~~~~~~
Isn't it amazing the things you see everyday
thatyou never notice until someone points out
how wonderful they are,
like this thatched cottage
which is down the road from us.
The rosehips are flourishing with all the rain!
The farmers have been busy at work -
These two didn't seem to mind the grey skies and the raindrops
and this one was busily comping away!
 We saw a little bird house nestling in the trees -
Charlie stopped for a drink
All of a sudden the rain started again so there was nothing for it but to head home.
