you left  on a  dark night....
You left me with memories
You left me with guilt
You left me with anger
you left me confused
you left me abandoned
you left me lonely
you left me so sad

you left....

Why?

Happy Birthday to my Lovely Daughter ♥

I am reminising today about giving birth
to my lovely daughter.
I remember it so well -
the morning sickness,
the swollen belly that seemed to start at my chin
and made me look like a big fat snowman!
 I remember every niggle and every pain.

I remember her dad crying with happiness when he  held her in his arms for the first time
I remember my mum (her nana)
so delighted that she couldn't speak
but most of all I remember the joy of
having her  in our lives
and the joy that she has given to us
since the day she arrived.
Happy birthday my gorgeous girl.

St. Brigid's Well

Today was dull, grey, cloudy and windy
basicially typical Irish weather
I was feeling sad and teary because of 9/11
so we decided to brave the elements
and go for a little walk.

Oh dear look at those grey skies!
We didn't want to go too far so headed here
I love this lane and the trees are beautiful
St. Brigid is looking lovely as usual

 This well is reputedly a 'healing well',
one of many in Ireland.
It is still a popular place of pilgrimage
where healing liturgies are often held.

The water is crystal clear

The Well is a very spiritual place
and people come here everyday to pray
Here are some of the Stations of the Cross

We stopped, had a moments silence and said a prayer for all those killed on this day 10 years ago in the United States.
I needed that.
Then we headed for home.

Lovely to look at

I love this teaset which was given to us by my husband's aunt as a wedding present when we married 25 years ago.
It is so pretty and delicate.
It is never used and buried in a cabinet in the dining room along with the good Waterford crystal wineglasses and other good china & bits and bobs.

My husband asked me why I don't use any of that stuff instead of it all gathering dust and you know I couldn't answer him.............

Life is for living and having lovely things unused seems such a shame.

I have taken the teaset down but think it will only be used my myself, my mum and my daughter because the 3 big men in this house might look a little strange sipping tea from flowery cups!!!

The wine glasses will stay where they are for the moment as I know the boys would use them for drinking cola and they wouldn't last 2 minutes!!

Tomorrow I might take out some more -
baby steps!!!

Have you got things put away that you don't use
or is it only me?

The Quiet Man

One of my all time favourite films has to be "The Quiet Man"
 starring John Wayne and our own lovely (Irish) Maureen O'Hara.

This weekend thousands of people from all over the globe are travelling to Cong
in County Mayo for a festival
 celebrating the 60th anniversary of the filming of
The "Quiet Man".

The film was made in 1951 and 60 years on it is more popular than ever.

They say that every minute of every day someone in the world
is watching it!

I saw Maureen O’Hara being interviewed on Irish TV recently
and she spoke of the sexual chemistry between herself and Wayne
and said that he was a “real man”.

She is 91 this month, lives in County Cork and looks amazing.
She is determined to live until she is 102 and looking at her
she may well do so.

Weekend in the West of Ireland.

Myself and husband are just back from a lovely weekend in the West of Ireland.

We visited many great places and enjoyed every minute.

The weather was a bit pick and mix but we made the most of it.

Here is a photo of the Beach at Mullaghmore,
County Sligo.
Look at those grey clouds!

The sun is straining to shine on the pier,
although never quite made it!

The mountains in County Sligo look a bit wet!
It was a little better in Carrick-on-Shannon,
County Leitrim
where we did get an hour or so of sunshine!

But the best part is that we ate and drank and enjoyed life and spending time together as a couple.

We left our 23, 21 and 15 year old darlings at home and although we came back to a reasonably tidy(ish) house,the windows had obviously not been opened since we left and the coffee cup that I had rinsed and left on the draining board was still there 3 days later!

Lots of catching up to do now...............
and the dreaded household drudgery
the main ones being the washing and ironing!

 The joys of life!

Girlie Time ♥

Had a lovely lunch today with my daughter in Avoca Dream Weavers

Avoca hand weave at the original Mill in the lovely village of Avoca, at the Meeting of the Waters in County Wicklow.
They have been in business for over 300 years.
Their rugs, throws, blankets and scarves are all  natural fibres - 100% pure new lambswool, mohair, cashmere and angora and are just to die for!!!
♥ ♥

Here are some of the lovely throws we saw today

They were all so beautiful that it would be difficult to chose just one!

Aren't the colours fantastic?

They sell their homemade produce too.
We bought a couple of pots just to test and some of their nutty brown bread!!

Look at the display of beautiful cups and teapots

We had a lovely day and I think the message on their bag says it all!

Remembering back to when

I used to have a lovely narrow waist!
pinterest
Those were the days!!

3 babies by C section and that figure is gone, gone, gone.......

I now have my jelly belly and my love handles
husband never compains, but I certainly do!!

I only have to look at a cupcake and I gain 3 pounds!

Thinking of this puts the brilliant  words from the movie Shirley Valentine into my head -

 'You kissed my stretch marks...............

'These are the marks of life, they show you are alive .....
be proud of them'

'Arnt men full of shit'
 ~~~~~~~~~~
I love that movie!
Isn't Shirley right, men are full of............
but we still love them!
Remembering the days
of pastal pinks, blues and lemon baby clothes
all hanging on the washing line, so soft, cuddly and adorable.
Longing to give my precious his or her bath, wrap them in a towel, sprinkle with baby powder, have a lovely cuddle and just savour the moment.....................
Those were the days.............
~Now~
Now it's all dark jeans, sweat tops, hoodies and everything is dark, dark, dark and not a cuddle do I get but a grunt every now and again!   Sweet!
