What a lovely surprise!

My son went on a shopping trip to Dublin yesterday.

He phoned me and told me that he had bought me a lovely present and that I would be delighted with it.

My mind went into overdrive, was it a new pair of earrrings, a nice bit of costume jewellery, a bottle of something smelly, the scarf I had been admiring with him the other day.............

He came home with this -

a rapid boil kettle.

It's fantastic he told me because when you put the water in, the water is clear

and when it boils
the water swirls and dances and the kettle turns blue!!

Hmmm....................

Now it was a lovely thought but I don't drink many hot drinks
while himself and his brother on the otherhand........................

Boys don't you just love them!!!

Do you mean you were not impressed? Hadn't you always wanted one of these? Who needs fashion accessories if you have a kettle like this?

It's the thought that counts - sounds like a typical man's gift!! And at least he thought of you ... sort of ..

Don't they say that the best gift to give is one you can use yourself ;) I, myself, like to give chocolate!

It's the thought that counts . . . repeat as often as needed until believed;-)

Do you think it's sons want to please their mothers so they give them what "they" like? I too, get the weirdest presents from my sons..... as, tools seem to be high on their list. :)

They say you should never buy a gift you wouldn't like yourself...perhaps they took this too far hee hee! You never know, you might get into more hot drinks too? or have very happy boys :)
Glad you like my idea and are checking out Galen's blog.

I know they say it is the thought that counts ..... but perhaps a bit more thought was required!!

With four sons and a husband I'm right there with you gal! It is the thought that counts, however...if they would just be putting the thinking cap on a tad longer!

Hi thanks for popping over to my blog and commenting on the Paris post. At least your son did think of you even if the gift is not actually something you'd use a lot! Never look a gift horse in the mouth I'd say who knows next time it might be the ear-rings or perfume mightn't it?!

Thank you for coming to visit, Fiona! I'm so glad to know you enjoyed what you saw :)

Always remember...it's the thought that counts :)
Have fun watching that water turn blue now!

So sweet! Reminds me of the time my husband bought me a battery-operated radio for my birthday -- to replace his broken one! I had to laugh (it was among a gaggle of other more-for-me gifts he and our two sons bought me). Too funny.

Just found you via Mon's Joy Pockets and was browsing your site. Nice to meet you!

Best,
Stacy

It's still a nice gesture! Sort of neat that it turns blue!
