St. Brigid's Well

Today was dull, grey, cloudy and windy
basicially typical Irish weather
I was feeling sad and teary because of 9/11
so we decided to brave the elements
and go for a little walk.

Oh dear look at those grey skies!
We didn't want to go too far so headed here
I love this lane and the trees are beautiful
St. Brigid is looking lovely as usual

This well is reputedly a 'healing well',
one of many in Ireland.
It is still a popular place of pilgrimage
where healing liturgies are often held.

The water is crystal clear

The Well is a very spiritual place
and people come here everyday to pray
Here are some of the Stations of the Cross

We stopped, had a moments silence and said a prayer for all those killed on this day 10 years ago in the United States.
I needed that.
Then we headed for home.

Our weather has been horrible as well -perhaps fitting to this sad anniversary (and on a personal note, yesterday was the 15th anniversary of my Mum's death)
But life goes on, and to look on the bright side... congrats on being in the collage of this week's shadow shot Sunday!!

I've never been over to Ireland although I would love to visit sometime. It's just really over the water.

Even on a grey day there is beauty to behold. I remember our years in Ireland as . . . mostly wet but very green;-)

This is such a beautiful post. Thank you for sharing. My friend Libby moved to Ireland and lived there for many years before moving to England last year. I hear the weather is always grey, huh? The photography of the well looks enchanting, what a wonderful little place to walk to! It's really worth the distance. andrea @ townandprairie

Thanks for sharing this walk with us : it was windy, but fun ! I like very much this statue of St Brigitt, and the flowers at her feet make the whole place looks so alive...

What a beautiful spot..one I would enjoy..very peaceful and spiritual. Thanks for sharing and you are so right..We will never forget 9/11..such a terrible thing to happen and it is hard to believe hatred can run that deep, to kill innocent people.

You have a lovely blog. I read the entire thing and just loved it. I, too, am a fan of "The Quiet Man". My father resembled John Wayne physically in many ways. They died within six days of each other in June 1979. Weird, huh?

Ireland is Mother Natures favored girl.
Yellow flowers are stunning, like sun
on a stem.
A glorious walk!
