this, that and a bit of the other....

Well the good news is that my son has graduated from university and was conferred with his degree on Thursday.  We had a lovely day, the sun shone, there was plenty of laughter and quite a few tears too (well mostly me as I am always misty eyed during special moments)

The weather has been beautiful over the last few days ♥  The farmers are busy at work and there is definitely a touch of Autumn in the air...

The begonias I planted last year gave me a welcome surprise when they popped
their heads up a few weeks ago.
They are flowering well and the colours are bright and cheerful.
and while out and abouut I saw these
pretty  bird houses
I bought a couple and added have them around the garden to add a bit of colour
as my flowers are fading fast.

They were €1.49 each

I also bought this floor length purple dress in the M&S sale - it was €19
I love purple and thought it would be perfect for my holidays

Do you like candles?

Well these scented ones are great
they smell like vanilla and yet only cost €2.50 each in Penneys

Can you see the raindrops on the window in the photo above?
At first I thought it was my dirty windows showing but then realised that it had  been raining!

and I bought these owl cushions as they took my eye and at €8 each they wouldn't break the bank.

I see that Mittens our cat has found a new bed
no wonder my plants are squished and squashed!

A tip from me...

I have often fancied a French manicure but it never looks right on my nails so I decided to buy some falsies and pop them on for the graduation - bad bad idea...

I ended up with my fingers stuck together, dropped the glue onto the dress I was planning to wear and the nails stuck to my knickers...
not a good look!!!

Wishing you alllovely happy week
full of
 sunshine, smiles and lovely things

Congratulations on your son's graduation. He is on into the big world now. Wishing him lots of luck.
A very nice post Fiona.
love the cup cake cadles and the cat ): he is clever.
I like the bird hatches.. they look so nice. The birds will have somewhere to nest in the winter.
What a laugh.. gluing the glue all over. Best not to try something new on special occasions.
love the dress
wishing you a good week.

Hi Fiona, I'm slowing down a bit so there's a bit of time between my visits... but I get there eventually :D)
Lovely to read all your interesting doings - most importantly your Son's graduation. How proud you must be, I don't blame you for tearing up. Well done to him.
You had a nice spend up too - beautiful dress and I think the owl cushions are sweet.
I had a little chuckle at your cat's sleeping spot - so typical isn't it, they love those sunny warm nesty places.
Cheerio for now :D)

Congratulations to your son!
I'm really jealous of ypur new candles and cushions and I feel the same way about French manicure. Although I like it a lot on other women, when I got one last year I thought it looked kind of...cheap. I hope the glue didn't ruin your dress forever.
Enjoy the new week Fiona! :)

Congratulations to your son - you must be feeling really proud of him. My youngest daughter just started Glasgow Caledonian university today - she had a great day and raring to go on it. Always a good sign :))
I am feeling a bid sad today as our Laura has moved away - trying not to think to deeply on it though. Sometimes it is hard being a mum isn't it? :)

Congrats to you're son. you are one very proud mum I can tell. I love looking at all your photo;s. The tip at the end made me laugh. I don't like the way french manicures look on my nails either by the way. Sounds as though you got yourself in a bit of a pickle. I would have done the same thing. LOL!

Congrats to your son! Really fantastic - no wonder you had tears in your eyes - I am emotional too! Lovely to see some photos from your garden and the shopping you did! On my French manicure looks not natural at all and I am absolutely disgusted by those artificial nails and I am not surprised that you had difficulties to live with them! Now you are healed - go back to your own Fiona nails as all that is Fiona is brilliant! Bye, Christa

Oh Fiona, I know you're so proud of your son! Congrats to him!!! I will be showing my son this post later today. :) You always buy such lovely dresses! That dress will be so beautiful for the holiday! When I get a manicure I ask for an American manicure, it just seems to look more natural and most of the time I get my nails squared a little. I need one now badly!
The candles and owls are adorable, but your Mittens in the pot is a hoot!
Hope you're having a great week!
Hugs,
Marie
